Valmieras stikla šķiedra celebrates 20 years of being a joint stock company

21. December, 2016

This year, Valmieras stikla šķiedra JSC celebrates its 20th year of being a joint stock company. As years and even the century have passed, the company has consolidated its position in the economic life of not only Latvia but also in the UK and the US, becoming one of the leading producers and suppliers of glass fibre in the world. It is a sustainable, competitive, successful and profitable company that provides a strong economic impulse to the welfare and growth of these countries.

This story of success, in some way incredible and once even unthinkable, would not have been possible without one man’s faith and confidence in the company. We can be thankful to Mr. Jürgen Preiss-Daimler that in 1996, when almost no one saw that the glass fibre production plant could continue to work, he had faith and revived the company as a result of privatization reform, leading it towards development and growth and giving jobs to more than one thousand people.

For this reason it can even considered that Valmieras stikla šķiedra JSC has two birthdays – one in 1963, when it was first established, and the other in 1996, when it acquired Mr. J. Preiss-Daimler as an investor.

The work and contribution of Mr. J. Preiss-Daimler has also been acknowledged by the Latvian state by awarding him the highest award of the Republic of Latvia, the Order of Three Stars, for his contributions for the benefit of the employees of Valmieras stikla šķiedra JSC and in building the welfare of the Latvian state.
