On April 4, together with 2179 other shadow givers throughout Latvia, AS VALMIERAS STIKLA ŠĶIEDRA also held Shadow Day. We hosted 13 young people, who had the opportunity to get acquainted with the daily activities of representatives of various professions and to see how everyday life goes in one of the largest manufacturing companies in Latvia.
13 curious young people had previously applied for several vacancies to be able to shadow employees at AS VALMIERAS STIKLA ŠĶIEDRA in the following positions: logistics specialist, quality technologist, product and process engineer, mechatronics, and marketing project and communication manager.
As the young people themselves admitted, our company benefited from the fact that we are a recognizable company and some positions were not available even in other parts of Latvia on the shadow day, and the location - Valmiera, was a very valuable bonus. The shadows watched our colleagues in action with interest and asked interesting questions about the specifics of the position and the company, as well as partly being able to apply their knowledge in practical tasks, thereby trying their hand at a position that currently seems worthy of a future perspective.
After a well-done shadowing work in the first half of the day, we treated the young people with pizzas and refreshments, as well as shared a presentation about the company, the products we produce, later showing all the stages of production also on a plant tour.
"This year, our shadowers applied and also proved themselves as highly motivated and curious ones who had purposefully applied for their shadow professions. They went home with a better understanding of the professions they shadowed and new impressions of the production process. We wish each of them to find the profession of their dreams and thank them who visited us for their interest in learning the professions of production. Who knows, maybe one of today's shadows will return to our company in the future as an intern or even as a new employee", says Elīna Strazdiņa-Stradiņa, HR and Development Manager of AS VALMIERAS STIKLA ŠĶIEDRA.
